Scott Lemoine is a singer, songwriter, and pianist, among other things. Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Scott started taking private piano lessons at the age of four. Scott completed Grade 10 Piano and Grade 8 Voice studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music, and he also holds the Conservatory’s certificate in Elementary Piano Pedagogy.
Drawing on this background in classical music and various pop, rock, and jazz influences, Scott’s songwriting explores the piano’s many voices and the full range of his own. Much of his music features clear lyrics and melodies with rich, rhythmic accompaniments.
Scott’s songwriting is also influenced by his experience in musical theatre. Favourite past roles include Oliver (Oliver!), Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Jesus (Godspell), Matt (The Fantasticks with Ottawa Little Theatre), and Ensemble/Lowell/TV Reporter (Legally Blonde: The Musical with Orpheus Musical Theatre Society).
Scott holds a Bachelor of Humanities with Combined Honours in Philosophy (Carleton University, College of the Humanities) and a Master of Arts in International Affairs (Carleton University, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs). During his undergraduate studies, Scott spent a year studying philosophy at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium.
Scott’s debut EP, Adolescence (September 2014), is available for download on BandCamp.
